
Legal Requirements
USA CITIZENS with Passports
1. Passports
2. Drivers License or other valid form of ID
3. Tourist Card (This is given to you on the plane)
4. Blood Tests
5. Medical Certificate
6. 4 witnesses (If you are providing your own witnesses then they all MUST have a valid passport and the tourist card).
USA CITIZENS without Passports
1. Birth Certificate with Apositille Seal
2. Birth Certificate translated into Spanish by an official translator
3. Drivers License or other valid form of ID
4. Tourist Card (This is given to you on the plane)
5. Blood Tests
6. Medical Certificate
7. 4 witnesses (If you are providing your own witnesses then they all MUST have a valid passport and the tourist card)
In case of divorce:
1. Complete divorce decree with Apositille Seal
2. Translated into Spanish by an official translator (This will be done in Mexico for you).NB: It is possible to have your blood tests and medical certificate taken care of in the US and then all that is required is a translation. Ask your coordinator for more details.
CANADIAN CITIZENS
All Canadian Citizens have to take all the required documents to the Mexican Consulate for their corresponding legalization.
1. What is the Apositille Seal?All documents issued from one country that are going to used in another must be certified. The type of certification that is required in Mexico is called the Apositille Seal.
2. Where do I go to get this seal?
Contact the Goverment Office that issued your birth certificate and they will direct you to the correct department.
3. How long will they take?
The process takes anywhere between 2-4 weeks.
4. How much will it cost?
The charge varies from $10 to $30 depending on the state that you were born in.
5. How many days am I required to be in Mexico before my wedding?
The couple and their witnesses are required to be in Mexico at least two working days prior to the Wedding Date.
6. Where do I get my visa/tourist card?
You will receive this on the plane. You will be asked to fill it out and submit it to the immigration officers. PLEASE REMEMBER to fill your name correctly, as this is the name that will be on the wedding license.
New Blood Test Requirements
Blood Test
· The blood tests have to be done within 15 days of your wedding date.
· The blood tests require the following information:
1. Full name of both bride and groom as written on the passport. (There can
be no error in spelling, or middle names missed out)
2. Blood Group and Rhesus Factor (example: A+, O- etc
3. SIDA Test
4. Venereal Disease Test
Medical Prenuptial Certificate
This can be done in the USA/Canada. It also has to be no older than 15 days before your wedding date.This certificate has to indicate the following items:
1. Full name of both bride and groom as written on the passport.
2. The letter needs to state that you are both good physical and mental health.
And that there is no hereditary family disease in either of your backgrounds.
3. Letter must be written on Medical Letterhead, with the signature, name of
doctor and stamp of the hospital or doctors office.
IMPORTANT
Once you have received both of the above items they need to be sent by FED EX to our Cancun office a week before your wedding date. Included with the above items should be copies of your passports. (This is to make sure that you names etc are all in order) Once we have received this we can then have them translated and notarized by a lawyer in Cancun so that we can include them with your paperwork for the civil wedding.
